オーシャンスピリットを身にまとって！Wearing the Ocean Spirit!

Tシャツ、かっこいいですよね？ 海外サイズなので少し大きめでしたが、次回はワンサイズ下げようと思います。モニターの方から洗濯後のフィードバックをいただいたら、新しいTシャツを追加で注文する予定ですので、お楽しみに！

気温が下がってきて、また多くのメンバーが練習に戻ってきてくれてうれしいです。一方で、来月は他のクラブも施設を使い始めるため、コートの確保が少し難しくなるかもしれません。だからこそ、市が約束してくれた来夏のエアコン設置を本当に期待しています！

個人的にはとても忙しい一週間でした。なんと5回近くプレーしました！ 横須賀基地でもプレーする機会があり、DUPR4.5レベルの選手たちと対戦して多くを学びました。ハードコートでプレーするのは久しぶりで、バウンドも速く、風の影響もあり、まったく違う感覚でした。もし興味がある方がいれば、今後ハードコートでのセッションも企画したいと思います。

さらに、あるスポーツメーカーの方と面白い打ち合わせもありました。ピックルボールの普及に関心を持っておられ、年末に初心者向けのセッションを一緒に企画してほしいという話をいただいています。もちろん私たちはボランティアとしてこの活動を行いますが、参加・協力してくださる方は大歓迎です！ また、これは今後予定しているチャリティイベントの準備にもつながっていくと思います。

These T-shirts look pretty awesome, don’t they? I realized they’re a bit on the large side since they follow overseas sizing, so next time I’ll probably go for smaller ones. Once I get feedback from the monitors about how they hold up after washing, I’m planning to order more T-shirts—so please look forward to it!

It’s great to see that as the temperatures go down, more people are coming back and joining practice again. On the other hand, it might get a bit harder to secure enough court slots next month, since other clubs are also returning to the facilities. So we’re really hoping the city keeps its promise and installs the AC by next summer!

Personally, it’s been a busy week—I played nearly five times! I also had the opportunity to play at the Yokosuka base with some 4.5 DUPR players, and I learned a lot. It was tough but really interesting, especially since I haven’t played on hardcourts many times before. The game feels completely different—faster, harder on the bounce, and with the wind, it adds another layer of challenge. If anyone’s interested, I’d be happy to organize some hardcourt sessions going forward!

On another note, I also had an interesting meeting with a sports manufacturer that’s looking to help expand the game. They’ve asked us to help organize some beginner-friendly sessions, probably toward the end of the year. Of course, we’ll be doing this purely as volunteers to help grow pickleball, so if anyone would like to join and support, you’re more than welcome! This initiative will also tie in nicely with our planned charity event, helping us prepare and build momentum for that as well.
