Yesterday evening, I checked out another Italian restaurant near my hotel. It was located on the fourth floor of an old French-style building, with no elevator and a rooftop dining area. Walking up the narrow staircase brought back memories of visiting my aunt's place when I was a kid. It was a surprisingly nostalgic experience.
The rooftop had a wonderful atmosphere. The only downside was that I was traveling alone, as it felt like the kind of place that would be even better shared with friends. Still, the food was excellent. I started with bruschetta and followed it with a pizza topped with Parma ham and burrata. Simple, classic, and beautifully executed.
This morning, I was up again at 5:30 a.m. Since the hotel breakfast was not available yet, I went looking for something else. I found a place called Bagel Brothers and was excited to finally enjoy a proper bagel breakfast. Unfortunately, when I arrived shortly after their 6:30 a.m. opening time, the bagels were not ready yet. So, for the second day in a row, I ended up at McDonald's. Fortunately, I actually enjoy it, so it wasn't much of a disappointment.
At 8 a.m., I joined a social pickleball session at a club near the hotel. My host, Tina, was running the event, which lasted until 11 a.m. The heat was intense, and the courts were quite crowded.
One thing I've noticed here is that many organizers seem to operate these sessions as businesses, which is somewhat different from the community-oriented approach we take at Ocean Pickleball. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun. I had the chance to play with people of different ages and skill levels, which is one of the things I enjoy most about the sport.
The biggest challenge was staying hydrated. I drank an enormous amount of water during the session and probably still need more. As I write this, it's not even noon yet, and there's still half a day left to explore and enjoy in Ho Chi Minh City.
