The second half of my first day in Ho Chi Minh felt like a little connection between Kamakura and Saigon. In the evening, I caught up with one of our Ocean Pickleball members who is also actually one of our neighbors in Kamakura. He regularly joins our practices when he is in Japan, but he is based here in Ho Chi Minh City. It was great to see him again and, over dinner, talk about the pickleball scene in Vietnam. We met at Pizza 4P's, one of the trendiest pizza places in the city. It was started by a Japanese gentleman and combines Italian pizza with a Japanese touch. Very stylish, very good, and definitely worth a visit. Earlier, I stopped at a French-style boulangerie to try some local sweets, then walked a long way back to the hotel, passing some of Ho Chi Minh City's historic buildings and streets along the way. Walking as much as possible was actually part of the plan. I'm now pretty tired, which hopefully means I'll sleep well tonight. Tomorrow is the day I've really been looking forward to: pickleball in the morning and again in the afternoon. Time to see what the pickleball scene in Vietnam is really like.
