Pickleball Tip #1: Stabilize Your Wrist on Every Shot

Want more consistency right away? Start with your wrist. No matter what shot you're hitting, whether it's an open dink, a push dink, a slice, or a topspin dink, keep your wrist stable before, during, and after contact. When you lift or push through the ball, your wrist shouldn't move through the contact zone. Even on topspin, the spin doesn't come from the wrist. You brush up on the ball and generate it with your shoulder motion instead. The same rule applies to your drops from the back of the court. Whether you're hitting a lift drop or a topspin drop, a stable wrist through contact is the key. The big takeaway: lock in the wrist and sling the paddle from the shoulder. You'll get more balls in play and more shots landing exactly where you aim. Of course, good footwork and early preparation still matter, but this one change can pay off in minutes.Try it at your next session!
