これが、私たちがやっている理由 / This Is Why We Do It

昨日の練習会で、メンバーの皆さんが秀子のために、少し遅れての誕生日サプライズを用意してくれました。本当に思いがけないことで、とても温かく、嬉しい時間になりました。

私たちはたくさんのピックルボールの練習会を開催しています。でも、私たちが作りたいと思っているのは、単にピックルボールをする場所だけではありません。年齢や経験、バックグラウンドに関係なく、人が集まり、一緒にプレーし、少しずつ知り合い、そこから人と人とのつながりが生まれていく。昨日のような瞬間を見ると、これこそが私たちが続けている大きな理由の一つなのだと改めて感じます。

ピックルボールはきっかけです。でも、その先に生まれるものは、時にはピックルボールそのものより大切なのかもしれません。昨日サプライズを準備してくださった皆さん、そして一緒にお祝いしてくださった皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。

Yesterday, some of our members were kind enough to organize a little belated birthday surprise for Hideko. It was completely unexpected, incredibly sweet, and a genuinely special moment.

We organize a lot of pickleball sessions, but what we have always wanted to create is more than simply a place where people come to play pickleball. People of different ages, levels and backgrounds come together, play, gradually get to know one another, and somewhere along the way real connections begin to form. Moments like yesterday remind us that this is one of the biggest reasons we keep doing what we do.

Pickleball may be what brings us together, but sometimes what grows around it becomes even more important than the game itself. A huge thank you to everyone who organized the surprise and everyone who helped make it such a lovely moment.
