ピックルボールは、見た目以上にとても戦略的なスポーツです。すべてのラリーは、チェスや将棋、囲碁、オセロの一局に少し似ています。

相手より先のショットを考えながら、相手の弱点を作り、ポジションを崩し、少しずつ選択肢を奪っていく。力で押し切ったり、いきなり強烈なウィナーを決めたりすることが、必ずしもポイントを取る方法ではありません。大切なのは、焦らず、ポジションとショットを組み立てながら、最後にチャンスを作り出すことです。

決めの一打は、ただ最後の一手にすぎません。本当の勝負は、その前の何本ものショットですでに始まっています。

Pickleball is much more strategic than it may appear. Every rally is a little like a game of chess, shogi, Go or Othello.

You are constantly thinking several shots ahead, trying to create a weakness, move your opponent out of position and gradually take away their options. It is not necessarily about overpowering your opponent or hitting a winner out of nowhere. It is about patience, positioning and building the point until the opportunity finally appears.

The winning shot is often just the final move. The real battle has already been fought in the shots that came before it.
